Thermal Imaging
Thermal Imaging Inspection, Infrared Scanning & Electrical IR
Radiometric thermal drone surveys that find hidden building-envelope faults, insulation gaps, water intrusion under flat roofs and electrical hot spots.
[ 01 ]
What's included
Building Envelope Thermal Audits
Find heat loss, air leakage and insulation gaps on commercial and residential buildings.
Once every 1–3 years, or before planning energy retrofits; winter only.
Thermal Roof Moisture Detection
Locate wet insulation beneath flat roof membranes before leaks spread.
Yearly, or when a leak appears.
Solar Panel Thermal Inspections
Detect failed cells, diodes and strings across rooftop and solar-farm arrays.
Yearly; after hail storms.
Electrical & Mechanical Thermography
Hot-spot detection for substations, transformers and rooftop mechanical equipment.
Yearly; quarterly for critical facilities.
Autumn Flat Roof Thermal Scans
Find trapped water and wet insulation in large flat roofs before Winnipeg's winter freeze.
Yearly each fall (September–October).

Frequently asked questions
+When is the best time for a thermal building survey?
Thermal envelope surveys work best with a strong indoor/outdoor temperature difference — prairie winters are ideal.
+What weather conditions affect operations?
We follow Transport Canada regulations: operations pause in winds exceeding safe operating thresholds, active thunderstorms, or freezing precipitation (below 0°C for wet washing).
+What is the safety perimeter required?
A 5-metre controlled cordon around the active operating zone.
+Are pilots licensed and insured?
Yes, all pilots hold Transport Canada Advanced RPAS Pilot Certificates with comprehensive commercial aviation liability coverage.
+What sizes of drones does ClearHorizon operate?
Our fleet ranges from drones small enough to fit in your hand to drones the size of a truck box, with payload capacity up to 100 lb on our larger aircraft. Capacity varies by aircraft, equipment and operating conditions; we select the platform for each project.
+What are drone services?
Drone services are professional tasks performed using remotely piloted aircraft and equipment such as cameras, thermal sensors, mapping systems or cleaning attachments. A drone service is one specific task; drone services describes the range of work available. ClearHorizon provides commercial and residential drone services from Winnipeg across Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Kenora region of northwestern Ontario. We are a service provider, not a drone retailer; each project depends on equipment, site access, weather and flight permissions.

Key terms on this page
- Delta T
- The temperature difference between inside and outside a building. Thermal scans work best with a large Delta T, usually in fall and winter.
- FLIR / Infrared Camera
- A thermal camera that records heat rather than visible light, revealing heat loss, moisture and electrical hot spots.
- Radiometric Thermal
- Thermal imagery where each pixel records an actual temperature value, allowing measured analysis.
- Thermal Imaging
- Capturing heat patterns to find energy loss, moisture, insulation gaps and electrical faults.
[ why switch ]
Why thermal imaging clients across Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Kenora choose ClearHorizon
No lifts, scaffolds or rope crews
The drone works from the air, so there are fewer people at height and less equipment on your site.
Less disruption for tenants
Small ground footprint, quick setup and no heavy machinery blocking entrances or parking.
Proof you can file
Every job can include photos or video of what was cleaned or inspected — useful for boards, insurers and warranty records.
Right drone for the job
Fleet from hand-sized inspection drones to truck-box-sized units carrying up to 100 lb; cleaning up to 99 m (325 ft).
